Volunteering with SLA
SLA operates through volunteers from our community. We need coaches, assistant coaches, team parents, field managers, and more! We need your help to make each season a success!
Volunteer Coaches and Assistant Coaches
SLA is a volunteer organization and requires the active participation of the parents for the program to run effectively. Coaches are always in demand, especially for the inexperienced or younger players. No experience is required to start, you can learn with the players and with clinics and coaching resources provided by SLA. Coaches must be willing to learn with their players and remember to include the fun of lacrosse. Coaches training is provided, and certifications may be reimbursed by SLA.
Volunteer Code of Conduct
The STAFFORD LACROSSE ASSOCIATION (SLA) is committed to the exhibition of sportsmanship and ethical behavior in and around all athletic contests played under its sanction. All contests must be safe, fair, controlled and orderly for all athletes, officials and fans alike.
It Is the intent of the SLA that violence in any form is not to be tolerated in athletic contests or practices under the jurisdiction of this association. To enforce this policy, the SLA has established rules and regulations in cooperation with appropriate coaches and administrator groups, which set forth the manner of enforcement of this policy and the penalties incurred when violations of this policy occur. The rules and regulations shall focus upon the responsibility of the coach to teach and demand high standards of conduct and to enforce personally the rules and regulations set forth by SLA.
The Stafford Lacrosse Association requires that the following code of ethics and disclosure be issued and signed by each head coach, assistant coaches, and any other volunteers each season as a guide to govern their behavior. In addition, all head coaches and assistant coaches shall read and sign in acknowledgement their understanding of the Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League rules and regulations. The penalty for failing to sign either copy of these policies will be to restrict the coach, asst. coach, or the volunteer from participating in SLA programs.
