SLA Programs
SLA offers both local recreation and competitive league programs for girls and boys. Our primary season is during spring, but we do offer a summer clinic, fall sessions, and a winter clinic to help grow the base of lacrosse for our community in Stafford County. SLA is proudly the hub of youth lacrosse for Stafford County.
Note: For registration and insurance requirements for the protection of our players and volunteers, a USA Lacrosse membership is required for both players and coaches.
Recreational Program
SLA’s local recreational program is focused on introducing the game of lacrosse to new boys and girls players and developing their skills through local practices and games and in accordance with USA Lacrosse’s League Athletic Development Model. All practices and games will be held locally in Stafford County and will comprise one to two practices per week beginning in February and with Saturday games beginning in late March and concluding in late May.

Please note that our 12U and 14U boys and 5/6 and 7/8 girls recreational programs are contingent upon player interest. In recent seasons, we have not had sufficient interest in those programs and players were given the option to play on our NVYLL C-level teams or receive a refund. The NVYLL C-level is a less competitive level of play suitable for new and developing players and our C teams all had very successful seasons those years.
NVYLL Program
LA’s Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League (NVYLL) program provides players from all experience and skill levels the opportunity to play against a wider variety of teams in a more competitive system. NVYLL play consists of A, B, and C level programs, with teams at the A level comprising the most experienced players and C level focusing on new and developmental players. No experience is required to play NVYLL lacrosse and our C teams have had successful seasons while including many first-year players on their rosters.
SLA NVYLL players are assessed in our January and February Saturday sessions to determine the most appropriate level of play for them. Weeknight practices will begin in mid-February usually two nights per week with games beginning in late March. The NVYLL season comprises 8 regular season games (4 home, 4 away) with 1 to 3 post-season playoff games at away sites. The season concludes by the end of May.
